Unfortunately we had to stop the Terrarunner project for the time being. It turnout we needed to built and sell at least 20-25 trailer per years to cover the initial investments.
That would mean a full-time job, not possible to combine with my current projects.
Meanwhile the first XTR is being used intensively and we enjoy every moment of it.
Also in the winter it is performing greatly, especially now we've built in a diesel heater.
If you're planning to built your own tiny trailer, I would be happy to share my experiences in how to tackle the job. Just get in touch.
See you outside,
Frank
The Terrarunner is the result of a quest for a comfortable way of adventures travelling and camping, without loosing the feeling of being part of the outdoors that we have experienced only when camping with tents. So far.
Rain, wind, when its cold or hot, on a mountain, in a forest between the trees, or on a beach or camping site, when you're in a tent you experience all of this. Fantastic! In this way we have visited many beautifull places close by and far away. Nevertheless we went searching for a new way to make traveling more easy and comfortable, without loosing the great feeling of camping with a tent.
And so the Terrarunner was born...
Together we design the kitchen and interior of the cabin, based on your preferences and way of travelling and camping. Do you like rugged, you want to go 'off-grid', likes practical and functional. Or maybe you prefer a more back-to-basics approach, with a touch of rustic or even romantic. A lot is possible. Let us hear your ideas.
We start from 2 basic platform. The TERRARUNNER LT for when you prefer a lightweight and compact road warrior. Or the TERRARUNNER XTR with reinforced suspension, large off-road tires and wide heavy duty wheel fenders made for adventures off the beaten track.
The Terrarunner is built on a lightweight platform made of galvanised steel with an Al-Ko axle with breaks and coupling. The cabin itself is made of structural 30mm Monopan honeycomb panel laminated to 9mm waterresistant birch multiplex. The bottom panel is made of 30mm Monopan as well. To finish the interior, the wood can be oiled, farnished or laminated with HPL or bamboo for example.
Or you can choose to the cover the walls with woolen velt of canvas.
Together we built your Terrarunner. Starting with the design up to the construction. You have the option to do most of the work yourself. We supply your Terrarunner as 'casco' and all the parts and equipment for the interior as a kit, including all fictures, bits and pieces. An other option is that you purchase your Terrarunner as empty shell and you create your own interior.
Of course we very much like to finish your Terrarunner complete till the last polishing and hand over the keys, ready to go on its first adventure. We just like to give you the choice.
The interior is made to your own liking of oiled birch multiplex, bamboo, velt, canvas or your own idea. Warm and functional lighting, details of aluminium, leather or hardwood bring it all together. The doors are fitted with canvas roll-up and mosquito mesh curtains. So you can leave the doors fully open at night if you want.
A mattrass is personal so you choose the one you prefer (polyester, memory foam, pocket springs) in a size of 140cm wide by 200 or 220 cm length.
The mattrass is placed on a ventilated slatted bed base with as option an adjustable head section.
In the easy to reach storage cabinets above the foot end of the bed is plenty of space for all your cloths and more.
Are you OK with a single hub or you like to cook haute cuisine on your travels, all is possible in your own designed galley. A coolbox, built in fridge or neither. Extra storage space. A worktop of stainless steel or bamboo?
The cabinets and draws above the worktop provide plently of storage for all your plates, mugs, cooking stuff and food supply for days.
Are you planning long trips, preferable off the beaten tracks, you can option for a water container built under the trailer with an electrical or mechanical pump. You can also think of hose hookup with showerhead to wash off your dog, mountainbike or take an open air shower yourself.
Want to keep thinks simple, then install a jerrycan with tab above the sink, that is easy to carry and can be filled at any water source.
Having access to power while travelling is a must nowadays. For lights, charging your phone, camera, tablet or drone. And what about a coolbox or fridge? Beside a hookup to external power, we prefer to fit a Terrarunner with a solar powered energy system. Talking about freedom...
Basically, you can't without an awning fixed to one side of the Terrarunner. The covered space protects you against sun and rain.
Travelling with kits? Consider a rooftop tent over a normal tent. Beside it sleeps almost as luxury as inside the Terrarunner, it saves time installing and packing the kits stuff. The sleeping bags and pillows are packed inside the rooftop tent when driving and is up and ready in minutes.
